NBSC PARTICIPATES IN THE BUKIDNON 2026 ANTI-POVERTY SUMMIT
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) participated in the Bukidnon 2026 Anti-Poverty Summit held at Hotel de Susana in Valencia City, Bukidnon, on February 27, 2026. The event brought together local government unit (LGU) leaders, national line agencies, members of the academic sector, and other key stakeholders under the theme “From Plans to People: Advancing Economic Transformation and Poverty Reduction towards a Prosperous, Inclusive, and Resilient Bukidnon by 2028.” NBSC was represented by College and Board Secretary Caroline Laarni R. Sereñas.
The summit provided a platform for multi-sector dialogue on strategies and cooperative actions aimed at addressing poverty and advancing regional development priorities. The keynote message was delivered by Hon. Lope B. Santos III, Secretary of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), setting the tone for discussions on provincial challenges and coordinated responses.
A central feature of the activity was the “Sayuda Ta Mga Utaw” (Report to the People) presentation by Senator Juan Miguel F. Zubiri, during which he presented current poverty statistics challenging the Province of Bukidnon and discussed opportunities for inclusive growth. He also highlighted support for the education sector, including the donation of a building to NBSC.
Other key moments included the signing of a commitment to strengthen collaborative efforts in alleviating poverty across the province. The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño, CESO III, presented the Economic and Poverty Situationer, providing updates on the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Plan 2023‑2028 and identifying convergence areas for peace and development initiatives.
The summit context, emphasizing alignment of plans with community outcomes and reinforcing multi-stakeholder partnerships, reflects widely shared priorities across the province. Events of this nature allow government agencies, civil society, and institutions like NBSC to exchange insights, identify common goals, and coordinate initiatives supporting long-term socio-economic progress.
NBSC’s involvement in the summit reinforced its connection to regional development discourse. Engagement in such multi-sector platforms strengthens the College’s awareness of emerging priorities and offers perspectives that can shape its programs and collaborations moving forward.
