NBSC participates in WSAP Annual National Conference 2022

Manolo Fortich Bukidnon – The Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) participated in the Women’s and Gender Studies Association of the Philippines (WSAP) National Conference 2022 on November 23-26, 2022. This year’s conference was focused on the theme, “New Governance and COVID Recovery: What Now for Gender Equality?”.

The NBSC representative, Dr. Mary Koren Witting – Acuesa, was chosen as best presenter during the panel session on “Unpaid Care Work for Women and Girls”. The study on the incidence of teenage pregnancy in Region X, specifically on the concept of “Sino si Nene?: The Profile of Juvenile Mothers of Northern Mindanao” has been chosen as the best paper and was nominated for publication to WSAP Journal.

Congratulations to the research team composed of Dr. Mary Koren Witting-Acuesa, Rolan L. Mancha, Reynan S. Salo, Jeddah B. Quiño, Cristine Joy G. Sagaosao, and Mona Liel E. Lacsa for this significant milestone. The assistance and leadership of the NBSC College President, Dr. Catherine Almaden, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, the Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. Helen E. Maasin, the Research and Extension Office Director, Ms. Caroline Laarni R Sereñas, as well as the partner agencies from NEDA X and PopCom X have made this possible.

Universities and colleges from both government and private institutions took part in the four-day event, which was held at Bacolod-Talisay City in Negros Occidental.
