UNITING CULTURES, UNDERSTANDING VALUES: NBSC CELEBRATES THE 2026 ASEAN SUMMIT
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) came alive on May 11, 2026, with a celebration of the 2026 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit at the NBSC Covered Court. Organized by the International Affairs and External Linkages Office (IAELO) under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together,” the event gathered students, faculty, and staff for a day of music, cultural presentations, and activities showcasing the diverse member nations of ASEAN. From the theme song One Vision, One Ocean to spotlights on each country’s values and traditions, the celebration blended learning with meaningful engagement in a vibrant and memorable way.
The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as participants tested their knowledge in ASEAN trivia, cheered during the parade and attire showcase, and explored the booths of the ASEAN Fiesta. Awards and certificates recognized participation and contributions, while the variety of performances and interactive segments fostered enthusiasm, camaraderie, and a stronger sense of community among attendees.
College President Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D., CESE, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of cooperation and shared aspirations among ASEAN nations. She also thanked the NBSC community for helping the College move closer to its vision of becoming a recognized institution for inclusive, culturally responsive, and sustainable higher education, reminding everyone that “The future is in our hands.”
The ASEAN Summit at NBSC highlighted how cultural diversity and distinct traditions can thrive alongside shared aspirations and collective progress. Through this celebration, the event strengthened connections within the NBSC community and deepened appreciation for how unity and diversity together can shape a more inclusive and promising future.
